MISSION

The Belgian English Language Teachers Association (BELTA) is a non-profit organization for teachers of English in Belgium. We are an IATEFL Associate, allowing us to network with 100+ teaching associations and EFL teachers the world over.

We seek to encourage the professional development of English language teachers in Belgium by offering possibilities for discussion and the exchange of ideas and experience through face-to-face events, online events and printed and digital materials.

FACE-TO-FACE EVENTS

BELTA has offered and continues to offer a variety of face-to-events for English professionals in Belgium. Our premiere event is the annual BELTA Day conference, which is usually held in the spring of the academic year. Over the years, this conference has grown considerably. Recently, we have seen over 150+ delegates attend along with 25-30 nationally and internationally recognised speakers and a variety of publishers of EFL materials.

BELTA has also offered social gatherings in the past, including a well-attended 'English Beer Night' in Leuven.

BELTA is beginning to offer a variety of half- or full-day workshops for both BELTA members and non-members. The goal is to offer at least one workshop in each province of Belgium over a two-year period.

For more information, check our BELTA Day and F2F Events pages.

ONLINE EVENTS

Since its inception, BELTA has strived to present webinars and online conferences in which Belgian and teachers worldwide could participate in professional development. To date, we have offered TWO summer online conferences with TESL Toronto, a half-day joint event with TESOL Greece and another with EFL Talks, and 60+ one-hour webinars.

You can view any of our previous online events in the ONLINE EVENTS ARCHIVE.

For more information, check out our Online Events page.

PRINT & DIGITAL MATERIAL

The BELTA BULLETIN and the BELTA Blog are two ways that give English professionals access to short, practical activities and methodologies. The BULLETIN comes out three times a year and is mailed to National BELTA members and Institutional members and send electronically to International BELTA members. An archive of the BULLETIN is available; each issue is made available online in the form of PDF a year after publication.

The Blog consists of follow-ups to BELTA Day presentation, webinars, and teacher experiences and reflections.

We invite you to submit either an article for the BULLETIN or a post for the Blog. For more information, check out both the BULLETIN and Blog pages.
