Using Digital and AI-powered Tools for Improving Learners’ Performance

Abstract

This presentation aims to show how digital and AI-powered tools can be used by educators and learners in the ESL classroom: choosing appropriate digital and AI – powered tools to meet learners’ and educators’ need and the ways interactive virtual boards can be applied to promote 21st century skills. We will share different ways of effective incorporation of AI-powered tools for generating lesson plans and various materials for language classes, creating assessment materials and quizzes, grading learners’ work, providing formative assessment and feedback within writing processes.
We also recommend applying interactive virtual boards activities in teaching and learning processes. Using interactive virtual boards will motivate and involve students to participate in productive activities. It is an incredibly helpful tool for developing 21st century learning, literacy and life skills. Interactive virtual boards can be used by teachers of different subjects, at any lesson stage, at home or in the classroom, online or offline, by language learners of different learning styles, abilities, needs and age. Language learners will have the opportunity to do individual tasks or contribute to creating interesting projects in pairs or groups.
We will share examples of practical ESL activities to equip teachers through using digital and AI-powered tools that promotes student encouragement, active learning and personal development.

Biography

Alla Lytvynenko is an experienced ESL teacher from Ukraine with over 23 years of teaching English at the secondary school level. She currently serves as the Head of the English Language Department at Dnipro Lyceum #144. Alla is a certified Cambridge TKT teacher (since 2013) and holds a CELTA certificate with Grade B (since 2017). She is a member of IATEFL Ukraine and TESOL Ukraine. Alla has presented at international conferences in Ukraine, Moldova, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan, Taiwan and Azerbaijan. Her professional interests focus on integrating modern technologies and AI-powered tools in language education.
