This workshop will introduce some useful online resources that are user-friendly and both teachers and students will love, leaving the teacher in control and not overwhelmed by technology.

Why have you chosen this topic for your presentation?

Innovative technology can be daunting. We’d like to share some user-friendly applications that promote collaborative learning and creativity both inside and outside the classroom. Let’s make tech our friend and not our foe.

What do you want participants to take away from your presentation?

Inspiration! We hope that our participants will want to try out some ‘blind’ Kahoots, introduce Grammarly for writing, engage in collaborative learning with Padlet and inspire student voice with Flipgrid. So be prepared to BYOD.

Summary of presentation

It is important to see innovative technology from both the teacher trainer and classroom teacher’s experience and viewpoint. Teacher time to experiment with technology is always scarce so sharing experiences can be more motivational and inspiring for many teachers who find technology challenging. We will be looking at how Kahoot, Grammarly, Padlet and Flipgrid are engaging and motivational tools for teaching English and would be useful in most teachers’ 21st-century digital toolkit.
