Audience focus:

  • Teachers of adolescent learners

Abstract

Pair work is one of the most powerful tools in the language classroom – it promotes communication, builds confidence and relationships, and encourages learner autonomy. In this session, participants will explore a variety of practical, immediately implementable pair work activities that can be adapted across levels and class sizes. The focus will be on learner engagement, meaningful interaction, and classroom management strategies that make pair work more effective and student-friendly. Teachers will try out selected activities, then consider how to adapt them for their own classrooms. Attention will also be given to classroom routines, monitoring and feedback techniques, and common challenges such as off-task behaviour.
