Supporting Bilingualism through Flashcards in Montessori Education

Audience focus:

  • Teachers of young learners
  • Teacher trainers
  • Freelance teachers

Abstract

Every day young learners encounter new words, and supporting them in two languages can be challenging. This session looks at how flashcards, when used within Montessori principles, can provide engaging opportunities for vocabulary growth and communication in bilingual settings. Participants will observe a classroom example and a short live demonstration of one activity and will leave with concrete ideas that can be immediately adapted to their own teaching contexts. The session is designed for teachers working in bilingual or multilingual settings who wish to move beyond traditional flashcards.
