Meet Caroline Deltour who is one of the two winners of the Joris De Roy Memorial Grant 2025.
On Saturday 26 April, I had the great pleasure of attending BELTA Day 2025 in Brussels.
The day began with a plenary by Grzegorz Śpiewak, who delivered an entertaining talk on how learning happens. It was a great start to a programme packed with workshops offering practical ideas for everyone involved in teaching English. I attended several engaging sessions on topics such as using digital tools in the EFL classroom, teaching literature and revising writing tests with the help of AI.
The generous coffee and lunch breaks contributed to a warm and welcoming atmosphere. In the exhibition area with stands from publishers and EFL-related organisations, it was a real pleasure to browse through new materials and connect with fellow educators from Belgium and abroad.
I attended the event with several of my teacher training students, who were clearly enthusiastic about what they learned and experienced. It was lovely to see them engaged and excited by the various workshops.
The day ended on a cheerful note with a raffle: everyone still present won a prize, ranging from books to workshop vouchers.
Personally, I was truly honoured to be one of the two winners of the Joris De Roy Memorial Grant, which includes free admission to the 2026 IATEFL Conference in Brighton, a one-year IATEFL membership and free entry to next year’s BELTA Day. I am absolutely delighted with this wonderful prize.
My sincere thanks to the BELTA team for organising such an inspiring and energising event. I’m already looking forward to next year’s edition!
