ABSTRACT

Nobody questions that maintaining students' concentration is getting harder and harder. Their attention span is shortening and making them focused has become a skill.

Do you want your students to develop their writing, speaking, researching, interviewing, argumenting and team-working skills in a real-life context? Why not have them create their own online magazine? We will tell you about the project we have created for our Journalism students and help you think of how to adapt it to your students’ profiles.

BIOGRAPHIES

Stéphanie studied translation and Germanic languages in Brussels, before getting an MA in English literature at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she taught academic writing and intro to literature courses. She has taught German and English in various Belgian colleges, and is currently working at the ILV (UCLouvain). She got the CELTA in 2015, and her main pedagogy-related interests include life skills and learner autonomy.

Véronique has been a teacher trainer at the ISPG for nearly 20 years. She joined the ILV (UCLouvain) in 2016. She is passionate about pedagogy and 21st century skills, and believes in the importance of creative methodology to involve the students. Above all, Véronique enjoys working in a team and believes that collaboration fosters a positive emulation.
