Why submit a proposal for BELTA Day?

Read here what some former BELTA Day speakers have to say about their experience!

Melanie Hussell, Presenter BELTA Day 2019

As the founder of Speak Up, I help professionals to present their ideas more effectively so they have their voices heard and can make a bigger impact. However many of my clients suffer from real fear when speaking in front of people - doubly amplified when doing it in English! The physical and mental effect can be quite shocking.
Personally, I don’t feel we support our children enough with this scary task, at school or at university. So I wanted to share with BELTA members some practical tips to upskill their students and to start to prepare them for the real workplace. Something I feel very passionate about.
I was quite nervous on the day (just like my students), but the BELTA team was extremely helpful and supportive. And afterwards, I received very positive feedback.
So I encourage all teachers to share their innovative ideas and learnings in this warm and nurturing environment.
We can, and should, help each other grow.

Annelene Timmermans, Presenter BELTA Days 2019, 2021 &2022

Belta Day is a professional development programme to look forward to, where you can meet English teachers from Flanders, Wallonia and the rest of the world. I have presented twice at Belta Day, with great pleasure. I have found that teachers very much appreciate interactive and practical sessions. Don't hesitate to write a proposal, because you will be rewarded with enthusiasm and an opportunity to expand your professional network. Moreover, the lovely Belta team will kindly help you with any question you may have.

Bruno Leys, Presenter BELTA Days 2015, 2018 & 2022

Presenting at BELTA-days has always proved to be a rewarding and enriching experience.
Spending a day in the company of a myriad of (international) ELT professionals makes it the closest you can get to the experience of an international IATEFL conference on Belgian scale.
Oh, and you should also know about the memorable speaker's dinner events ...

Rianne Ariëns, Presenter BELTA Day 2019

Presenting at BELTA day was one of the most exciting things I ever did. I spent years attending workshops and listening to others and always felt that I didn't have anything new to add myself. It wasn't until after the encouragement of others that I decided to send in a proposal of my very own.
I still remember the lovely comments I got after my presentation and how much other teachers were interested in what I was doing in my lessons. I think it's important that we realize that, no matter how old or young you are and whether or not you are just starting out or have been teaching for ever, you always have something to share with others. You might not think that you are doing anything special but you might be surprised!
So, what are you waiting for? Take the plunge and send in that proposal because I, for one, can't wait to hear what you have to share!
